Hospital Indemnity

Receive cash payments to help manage the costs of a hospital stay.

Even with medical coverage, a hospital stay can lead to unexpected expenses and financial strain. MetLife Hospital Indemnity Insurance helps provide added financial support by paying benefits directly to you when you’re admitted to the hospital. Payments typically include a lump sum for hospital admission and daily benefits for each day of your stay, helping you manage out-of-pocket costs and everyday expenses while you recover.

Employees can enroll in the Voluntary Benefits when they are newly eligible, with a Qualifying Life Event, or during Annual Open Enrollment.

Employees must be actively at work on the effective date to enroll in coverage.

The plan pays hospital benefits when an accident or illness puts you in the hospital for:

  • Admission
  • Confinement
  • Confinement for Newborn Nursery Care
  • Inpatient Rehab
